MicroStation V8i Select Update 1 - Release Candidate 2.

As part of a more extended beta test programme than we were expecting, RC2 has been posted for download from Select Services tonight. The Bentley philosophy with V8 has been to release a product that works, when it is ready, rather than working to a marketing schedule.

This is a fully supported release suitable for use in production environments where compatibility with other products is not critical. Unlike previous beta versions and RC1, this release will install normally, not in a version numbered folder, so unless you use the multi-installer will want to replace existing versions of MicroStation V8i.

There is no RC2 version of PowerDraft, it is simply a subset of MicroStation so does not require a separate test programme.

We anticipate a full commercial release of MicroStation and PowerDraft, plus further betas and release candidates for other applications over the next few weeks.
